Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Music has the power to heal the broken and disturbed soul. Music communicates in a way that makes day-to-day language seem inadequate. Music can be sort of like medicine to the mind. Listening to soft music calms you down and makes you feel more relaxed, simply because the music creates such an atmosphere of rest.
According to various experiments conducted by many doctors around the world, it has been concluded that music can speed up the healing process in your body. It can be like a tranquilizer that soothes our mind and body and can be very relaxing. Research says that those who listen to music before and after surgery are more calm and in less pain. This natural pain reliever can also be defined as a treatment known as “musical therapy,” which is the prescribed use of music, and the relationship that develops through shared musical experiences, to assist or motivate a person in getting better.
Last week, from Saturday onwards till yesterday, I had fever and stomach cramps. My condition was very bad. I felt very nauseous. I didn’t even have the energy to stand. After taking my medicine, I would just lie down on my bed and listen to soft instrumental music by Kenny G. I would feel so nice. For a moment my pain would disappear and I would drift into a peaceful sleep for few hours.
Why waste money on psychotherapy when you can listen to the B Minor Mass? ~Michael Torke
Music is the best medicine for anything, in my opinion. Whether you recently broke off with someone or you are just having with fever, music can mend anything. Music has the sneaky ability to unintentionally distract us from the pain.
That doesn’t mean all genres of music can be soothing. If you have a terrible headache and you tune into hardcore metal or rock music, it sure isn’t going to help. It will simply make your headache worse. Mostly soft music or music having a romantic feel or simply instrumental music (devotional or non devotional) is usually helpful.
Playing music is a great way to feel better. It improves our mental state and relieves us of the physical and emotional roadblocks that happen during a tiring days.Music has mood enhancing capacities and may be underestimated as a way to augment other treatments.
Take this challenge, next time if you are traveling in a train or a bus or any other vehicle and you feel sick, tune in to some soft music and close your eyes and just focus all your energy on the music, I can guarantee you that you will feel way better. Or if you have to give a presentation or step up and talk front of a huge crowd or you get cold feet or feel stressed, just sit down in a corner far away from all the people, tune into some music for a minute or two and focus your full energy only and only on the song. I am sure you yourself will find a difference.
You must have noticed that doctor’s clinic’s or banks, or offices or hotels usually have soft music playing in the background. It’s because, music helps you feel less stressed and increases productivity. In an experiment conducted it is proven that melodies can help heal dis-harmonies in speech.
Music works miracles with boosting our moods, igniting our memories, and moving our bodies. I would like to end with a quote by John A. Logan ;
